Number of ways. If you own a router, you can setup sharing folders on XP and vista, and you can view the files in the shared folder. This is a good answer as whenever you connect to the router your automaticlaly connected to other files. (it does own a downside that your other computer must be on). Another fast attach is using a crossover cable. They power look like the usual ethernet cables but the send/recieve wires on them are switched to admit sending and reciving off files. I've achieved speeds off height of 10MB/s using this method. It all depends on the cable, sort of cable, computer network card , software and stuff. Another manner is using a firewire card (works similarly to the crossover but I believe its much faster (400MBs as opposed to the Cat5100mbs.) You can also use re writeable disks but I dnot believe this is the answer your looking for. If your a better user, you can choose up a pentium 2 somewhere, place linux on it, and place a 'file server'. This file server will admit you to access your files anywhere in the world as lengthy as both of you guys own internet connection, and you understand the IP of your server. (If your on cable/DSL tall speed, greatest probable your IP is forceful and this is not the first solution. Also some ISP's own it in there association that hosting a server is not allowed). anyways so yea the router answer is the first one,

Cross over line from pc to laptop will do the trick. Make sure that in your network settings you own tcp/ip protocol on. This should work I use to do it before i got a hub. You will also own to alow "share folders".

Use an ethernet line and then set up an building or post network with the wizard mate. Xp pro only.
