You will need a router or a combo dsl router device. You can choose one up at any buyer electronics shop and even Wal-mart.

The other object you can do is buy a Wifi Router and Wifi Card for said computer and set up a wireless network. If you do it this manner you can extend and put a circuit summit in your network down the road that you can open anywhere in the house.
But what ever you do if you set up a wireless network, encrypt it. It's not firm to do. while your in settings to set it up it will wish you for WEP and choose WEP and than a Key. You can use the solution to succeed to access to the network. This will retain it to a certain extent safe from hackers.

No. You would need to set up a router to bring about a network that uses the DSL as a gateway to the exterior world. With a DSL modem only it's only one pc at a time.

You need to buy a router. You can go to any computer shop and find one for beneath $100. They are very easy to set up and the instructions that come with them are as a rule to a certain extent easy to understand.

Try looking into creating a ICS Internet Connection Sharing amongst both computers.

Buy one more network card and put it on the main DSL computer and connect the line with the newly connected network card and the basement computer. Then own in common the DSL NIC by right clicking on the network card ,so the second Network card will get the ip as 192.168.0.1 ,then put these IP's in the basement computer IP:192.168.0.2 Subnet : 255.255.255.0 Gateway :192.168.0.1 DNS :192.168.0.1

If your computer's address (check it on the computer, not on the internet - go to Start/Run. Type cmd Click OK. Type ipconfig Look for the IP Address.) starts with 10, 172 or 192, you need a switch, if not you need a router. Both are near at enormous box stores like Best Buy and Circuit City. Routers exclude more than switches, ever since they do more.
